“HARD EARS WONT HEAR, OWN WAY WILL FEEL” my Bajan born mum used to say repeatedly when I was a kid. If you don’t listen, you’ll have to learn the hard way, and so many times I didn’t listen. For me, having hard ears is about being confident in yourself and trusting that you can do whatever it is that you want to.

HARD EARS is a contemporary cultural diary of the notes and scribbles that made it into material ideas; a thoughtful curation of fashion, art and comment by new and established minds. Born out of the desperate necessity for a completely uncensored, non-elitist, non-exploitative place for honest images and words that reflect the norm and the now. Including that as a creative with an erratic schedule, it’s difficult to give as much time to important causes as I’d like to. HARD EARS will donate a portion of it’s profits to two given charities each issue, one consistently to help the homeless in London, and the other based on the theme.

Issue one: OLD, is a response to the obsession with youth culture and the desperate need for new things, new ideas and new people. This is collection of pieces inspired by an appreciation of the notion of old. Like my dad used to say, “If it aint broke, don’t fix it.”
